Inspections Made More Efficient for British Construction FirmMagnor Plant is using RFID tags on safety and lifting equipment at British construction sites to expedite the inspection process, providing results in a matter of hours rather than weeks.

As part of an ongoing effort to provide opportunities for further education and information sharing within the conformity assessment community, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) held its third annual "Client Day" meeting on July 13, 2010, in Washington, DC.
ANSI Headquarters Welcomes Delegations from Israel and Chinamaandag 26 juli 2010 19:07:00
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) welcomed delegations from the Standards Institution of Israel (SII) and the Ministry of Commerce of The People"s Republic of China (MOFCOM) earlier this month in its Washington, DC, headquarters. ANSI hosted SII representatives on July 12, 2010, as part of a program organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC).

Facilitates Research into Organic and Hybrid Semiconductor Systems and Opto-Electronic Devices CHANDLER, Ariz., July 23, 2010 Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the installation of an Agilent 5500 atomic force microscope (AFM) in the Blackett Laboratory, Department of Physics, Imperial College London. Dr. Thomas Anthopoulos, a reader in Experimental Solid-State Physics, will be the primary user of the new AFM.
Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy as a Tool for Detecting Ca2+ Mobilizing Second Messengers in Cell Extractsdinsdag 27 juli 2010 11:33:00
Abstract Understanding of calcium signaling pathways in cells is essential for elucidating the mechanisms of both normal cell function and cancer development. Calcium messengers play the crucial role for intracellular Ca2+ release. We propose a new approach to detecting the calcium second messenger nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP) in cell extracts using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).
Electrochemical Modulation for Signal Discrimination in Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS)dinsdag 27 juli 2010 11:33:00
Abstract Electrochemical modulation to induce controlled fluctuations in SERS signals is introduced as a method to discriminate and isolate different contributions to the spectra. The modulation-which can be changed in potential range, amplitude, and frequency-acts as a controllable 'switch' to turn on, off, or change specific Raman signals which can then be correlated within the spectra by different fluctuation analysis techniques.
Difference between Ultramicroelectrodes and Microelectrodes: Influence of Natural Convectiondinsdag 27 juli 2010 11:33:00
Abstract Natural convection in macroscopically immobile solutions may still alter electrochemical experiments performed with electrodes of micrometric dimensions. A model accounting for the influence of natural convection allowed delineating conditions under which it interferes with mass transport. Several electrochemical behaviors may be observed according to the time scale of the experiment, electrode dimensions, and intensity of natural convection.
